I am so excited today to be sharing our last blog post from Sri Lanka! And it’s about maybe my favourite little town in Sri Lanka called Galle. Actually, this is not the last post if you count the “Guide” post that’s coming after this one! I’ve already started preparing our next destination’s photos and I feel soo excited!
Back to our subject. Galle was my favourite place in Sri Lanka. There’s the old town inside the fort that looks European, Dutch, and the new town that is outside the fort. We mostly loved the old town. Cute little streets, lovely restaurants, and tea cafes. We were staying in Unawatuna and we would take the tuk-tuk (like a 15 min tuk tuk ride) and spend the whole day just wandering those Dutch looking streets. But the highlight of the place is the white lighthouse with the palm-trees in front of it. You cannot visit this place and not take that photo. It’s like visiting Paris and not taking a photo of the Eiffel tower.
In Galle, we also found THE best cafe/restaurant! Cafe Punto. It was so nice that we were outside reading the menu and two tourists eating there told us to not look further. We listened to them, sat at a table and a dad from a family that was sitting near us told us what to pick from the menu. And all of them were right! It was the best food we had in Sri Lanka. By far! My husband ordered the chicken kottu and it was to die for!
Love, Lucy xx
