Hola chicas!
During these Mexico posts, I am aiming to show you different things you must do whilst there. Besides swimming in the Caribbean and visiting the Tulum Ruins (find post HERE) there is another thing that you absolutely can’t miss. That is visiting a cenote. Cenotes are natural pits, or sinkholes, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath (Wikipedia).
So during our stay, we visited one of the most famous cenotes in Mexico called Dos Ojos. Dos Ojos means “two eyes” and people visit this place for swimming, snorkeling and also for diving. It is a cenote, actually two cenotes, hidden in the jungle with crystal clear water. We even saw a bat in them! This was an experience I know I will never forget.
But then again I will have to be honest with you. Dos Ojos, where beautiful but near that cenote, there’s another one called Nicte Ha. Although not as famous as the first one (but less expensive), this cenote was so much nicer for us. It had huge lily pads in it and actual vegetation under the water. All these and beautiful jungle surrounding, this cenote was a sight out of this world.
