Hello, my darlings!

This post is about a major bucket list moment of mine. A must thing to do while in Sri Lanka and an amazing experience. Taking the blue train from Kandy to Ella. A bumpy seven-hour ride (map) but maybe the most instagrammable thing to do in Sri Lanka. You get to see the most breathtaking views, especially at the Nuwara Eliya to Ella part.

On my bucket list you’ll rarely find a goal saying “visit this country”, “go there”. There’s a reason for me to go and see a country. And usually there’s an animal involved like “swim with the whale sharks in the Philippines” or “meet a pig in the Bahamas” or “get a hug from a sloth at the Peruvian Amazon”. Well, for Sri Lanka it was “ride the blue train in Sri Lanka!” And I got to cross it off my bucket list.

Before going, I saw so many photos of this train ride. Instagram is full of people hanging out of it and they make it look so easy. Well it’s not. Not because the train goes too fast, but because it is such a bumpy ride, I thought I was going to fall out or hit my head on a tree or something. I have three or four nice photos and like a million photos with only my head or arm or a foot sticking out of that door! It was so hard!!! I was looking at the photos to create this post and kept laughing!

Anyways, the following photos are (obviously) from the Kandy to Ella ride on the blue train and I also added a few of the photos we took at the Ella train station. And the last one is from our hotel in Ella. Actually, the view you’re watching in that photo is of the Ella Gap and is taken from the room terrace of our hotel in Ella. Gorgeous, right?

Love, Lucy xxx
